What do ROPS and FOPS mean, and why is professional repair so important?

ROPS stands for Roll-Over Protective Structure and FOPS for Falling-Object Protective Structure. Both are safety-critical parts of the operator cab. After damage, they belong in a specialist workshop with a documented, verified procedure so that their protective function is preserved.

Who is authorised to repair ROPS/FOPS cabs?

A company with certified welding qualifications. Köhler is certified to ISO 3834-2 (comprehensive quality requirements) and to ISO 9001, and its welding procedures are approved by SLV Mannheim. A welding engineer plans and supervises every repair. Construction-machinery insurers and expert surveyors rely on this work.

How does the cab repair process work?

The repair procedures are continuously audited and certified, both externally and internally. A test report is produced for every cab repair. Repair, assembly and painting are all carried out in-house.

Do you also repair operator cabs on construction machinery and excavators?

Yes. Köhler repairs operator cabs on construction machinery, including excavators, using the same certified procedure.

Does the cab have to be sent in, or is on-site repair possible?

Repairs are carried out at the workshop in Heppenheim. Customers in Germany and abroad send their cabs or components there.
